T1.1: L/S band LNA and TX/RX antenna front-end module Architecture and SAW technology trade-off [M1-M3]

To achieve the best outcome of the HOMEMADE project TAS has conducted at proposal stage a preliminary survey of New Space of 5G direct connectivity satellite operators. This survey has put forward that cost, mass and integration are strong system enablers. In this task, TAS will pursue this architecture trade-off at payload subsystem level to further describe and specify LNA and TX/RX active antenna modules as illustrated in Figure 31. The methodology implemented will be a top-down approach leaded by TAS that will be merged to the bottom-up approach leaded by SOI. The tradeoff will also cover other necessary passive technology building blocks like PCB, advanced EMI shielding and external RF and DC connectors which are important to consider for module integration and cost reduction. The goal being to demonstrate operation of POI based SAW filter into representative modules The trade-off will be supported by other project partner ALT, UCL and INC to come-up with best compromise between system requirements, component capability and component reliability constraints.
